Technically it is a DNS entry beneath your domain, pointed wherever you like, with its own folder on the hosting side. Creating one is free and immediate, and there is nothing to register beyond the parent name you already hold.
Search engines treat subdomains as semi-detached, which is why sections of content usually belong in a subdirectory such as /blog, while genuinely separate applications — app., portal. — sit comfortably on subdomains.

The questions we get asked most
Subdomain or subdirectory for my blog section?
Subdirectory, nearly every time. A /blog path shares the main domain's standing in search, while blog. splits it in two. Subdomains earn their keep for separate applications, not for sections of the same site.
How many subdomains am I allowed?
Effectively as many as you want on our plans — they are DNS entries plus folders, not things we count and charge for. Discipline is the real limit: prune the experiments you stopped using.
What happens to my files if I leave?
The site and the files stay yours. Pull a full backup from the panel whenever you like, before or during cancellation. Domains remain registered in your name for the term you paid for and can move to any registrar once the standard 60-day window has passed.
What does round-the-clock support actually stretch to?
People at the counter at every hour, and a scope that takes in the practical work: mailbox setup, DNS records, WordPress trouble, restores. Not 'the server responds, ticket closed'. Ask us something hard before you order — the reply is a fair sample of what you would get afterwards.
How do I read the mail when I am away from the desk?
Webmail opens in any browser, and every mailbox also speaks IMAP, POP and SMTP — so the mail app on your phone, the client on your desktop and webmail all show the same messages in the same order.
Do you shift an existing site across at no charge?
We do. Open a ticket with the login details for your current host and the whole lot comes over: files, databases, mailboxes and configuration. You check the copy before DNS changes hands, and the old site keeps serving customers until the new one takes the traffic, so nobody ever sees a gap.
Can one plan hold more than a single website?
From the Pro tier upward, yes — several sites, each with its own domain, mailboxes and certificate, all under one account. If those extra sites belong to clients rather than to you, reseller hosting is the better fit: it gives each one proper separation.
