Do I own my domain name forever?
You hold it for as long as the renewals keep going through. Registration is an exclusive lease you can keep renewing, not a purchase. Auto-renew plus a card that has not expired makes it permanent in practice; lapses are what feeds the expiry-auction trade.
Can somebody take my domain off me?
Not while it stays registered and locked inside a properly secured account, trademark disputes aside. The realistic dangers are a missed renewal and a compromised email account, and both of those are ordinary housekeeping rather than bad luck.
What happens to my files if I leave?
The site and the files stay yours. Pull a full backup from the panel whenever you like, before or during cancellation. Domains remain registered in your name for the term you paid for and can move to any registrar once the standard 60-day window has passed.
How quickly can I be up and running?
Minutes, not days.
