Questions
Transfers, explained
Will the site or the email go dark during the move?
No. All a transfer alters is who administers the registration; nothing else shifts. Your DNS records come over untouched, so the site and the mailboxes keep answering from the first minute to the last.
Is the extra year genuinely free?
For most of the popular endings, yes. Moving in adds a whole year to whatever term you have left, and nothing extra goes on the bill for it. There are country-code and specialist endings that refuse this, though. If yours is one of them, you will hear about it well before the checkout.
What is an EPP code, and where do I get one?
An EPP code, or auth code as some panels label it, is a short password that proves the name is yours. You can request it inside your current registrar's control panel, or ask their support desk to send it. It usually reaches your inbox in a few minutes.
How long does a transfer take?
After your approval goes in, most are done within a few days. How long exactly depends on the registrar you are walking away from and on the rules attached to that ending. Throughout it, the domain carries on working.
What do I need to sort out first?
Two jobs at your current registrar. Get the name unlocked, lift any transfer or privacy block, then ask for the EPP code. On top of that, the registry insists the domain be at least 60 days old and that it has not switched registrar in the last 60 days. That rule is theirs, and we cannot waive it.
Do my DNS records survive the move?
They come across untouched, and afterwards you edit them from our panel. Should you decide to aim the name at our hosting instead, a free SSL certificate is fitted for you the second the domain points here.
