Pakistani Domains

Buy a .pk from the registry that runs it

PKNIC is the official Pakistani registry, and that is where your domain comes from — something most international hosts cannot offer at all. $19.99/yr, with the registry's two-year minimum, and no registrant details on public WHOIS.

Why Us

Most hosts cannot sell you one

The mainstream registrars do not carry .pk. We went to PKNIC instead.

Bought straight from the registry

PKNIC runs .pk, and PKNIC is where your domain comes from. Most international hosts cannot sell you one at all, because the mainstream registrars do not stock it.

Nothing of yours on public WHOIS

Look up a .pk and PKNIC returns status, dates and nameservers. Your name and address are never published, so there is no privacy extra to add to the order.

A local address, straight away

A .com.pk tells Pakistani shoppers you are one of them. In trade, retail and services that recognition sells better than a generic ending does.

Hosting and a certificate to match

Aim it at any plan of ours and SSL is issued and renewed for nothing, with prices shown in rupees even though the charge itself is in dollars.

Pricing

Four endings, one price tag

PKNIC charges the same across all four and wants two years up front on every one.

Prices for the four .pk endings we register
EndingA yearWho it is for
.pk$19.99Open to anyone — the plain Pakistani ending
.com.pk$19.99What most Pakistani businesses use
.net.pk$19.99Networks and infrastructure operators
.org.pk$19.99Charities, associations and community groups

The opening payment is $39.98 — two years, because PKNIC sells no one-year term. After that it renews at $19.99/yr.

Two things you should know now

Both are odd enough that leaving them for the checkout screen would be a poor way to do business.

The term is two years

PKNIC has no one-year option on any .pk. Your opening payment covers two years at $39.98. Anybody advertising a one-year .pk price is quoting you half of the bill.

A person files it, not a script

Availability comes live from PKNIC's WHOIS, but the registration itself is keyed in by our team rather than automated. Allow up to one working day. We would sooner say that than advertise “instant” and miss.

Questions

What people ask about .pk

What does a .pk domain cost?

$19.99 a year. PKNIC insists on a minimum term of two years, so the first payment is $39.98 and covers two full years. That is the registry's rule rather than a bundle we invented — there is no one-year .pk to sell. Renewals stay at $19.99 a year, with no rise once the first term is up.

Why two years and not one?

Because PKNIC, the official registry, sets the term, and it applies to every .pk whichever registrar you go through. Anyone quoting a one-year .pk price is either showing half the real cost or cannot actually register the name. We would sooner print $39.98 on the tag than spring it on you at the till.

Will my name show up if somebody looks the domain up?

No. A public WHOIS query against a .pk returns whether the name is taken, its creation and expiry dates and its nameservers — no registrant name, address, phone number or email. That is unusual, and it works out in your favour: with most endings you either accept publication or pay for a privacy service. Here there is nothing published and nothing extra to buy.

Do I have to be in Pakistan to register one?

No. PKNIC sets no local-presence condition, so a .pk or .com.pk can be registered from any country. Plenty go to diaspora businesses, exporters and firms selling into the Pakistani market from abroad.

How long does registration take?

Availability is read live from PKNIC's own WHOIS as you search, so the answer is current rather than cached. The registration itself is still keyed in by our team rather than automated end to end, so allow up to one working day before the name appears in your account. An email goes out the moment it is live. We say so plainly because advertising "instant" would set the wrong expectation.

I already own a .pk — can you move it across?

Yes, though the registry handles the move rather than the automatic auth-code routine you may know from .com. Open a ticket with the domain name and we will tell you exactly what PKNIC wants from you and file it on your behalf. We do not charge for the help.

Which of the four should I pick?

For a company, .com.pk is the conventional pick and the one Pakistani customers recognise fastest. Plain .pk is shorter and open to all, which suits a brand or a personal site when the name is still free. .org.pk fits non-profits and associations, and .net.pk is meant for network operators. The price is identical across all four, and so is the two-year minimum.

Can I pay for this from inside Pakistan?

By card only, and it has to be one cleared for international payments. Being straight with you: PayPal does not serve consumers in Pakistan, and we cannot take JazzCash, Easypaisa or a local bank transfer yet. If none of those suits you, better to know now than after you have settled on a name.

Hosting To Go With It

Hosting for a Pakistani audience

Prices shown in rupees, cards taken from anywhere, and a straight answer about speed.

Our servers sit in London, roughly 200 ms from Pakistan — fine for cached pages, slower once you are working in the admin. The whole picture is on hosting for Pakistan and where we host.

Take the .pk name before somebody else does.
