What we take, wherever you're buying from

Visa, Mastercard and American Express — credit or debit, issued anywhere in the world. Stripe handles the transaction, and it is one of the largest and most heavily scrutinised processors going. PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer and cryptocurrency are not on the counter today. Better you read that here than find it out with a plan already in your basket.

Not at the moment. We understand why it matters, particularly when you are buying from a shop you have never used before, and a second gateway is on the build list. It will not go on this page until it genuinely works at checkout — listing a method that fails at the till is worse than owning up to the gap.

US dollars. Prices around the site are converted into your local currency so you can weigh up the cost at a glance, but that conversion is display only — the amount routed to your card is in USD. Your bank then applies its own exchange rate, and often a foreign transaction fee of roughly 2 to 3 per cent, so the line on your statement can sit a little above the converted figure you read here.

The debit comes from our billing company, Bohzo Ltd, and may show alongside our billing domain rather than the Hosting Seller name. If a line looks unfamiliar, match the amount and date against the invoice in your client area, or send us a note and we will name it for you the same day.

Fair question, and the straight answer is to check rather than take our word for it. Stripe collects the card details and we never store them, so a break-in on our servers could not expose them.
