A move that leaves the mail behind is not a move.

Files and databases

The whole document root and every database behind it, moved together so nothing arrives half-connected. Permissions, cron jobs and the config files that point one at the other come with them.

Mailboxes, with the mail in them

Accounts, aliases, forwarders and the messages already sitting in the inboxes. Mail is the part people forget until the first Monday after a move, so we do it as a matter of course.

Certificates and redirects

A fresh SSL certificate is issued here before the switch, and any redirect rules you already rely on are carried across rather than rebuilt from memory.

Nothing goes dark

Your old host keeps serving visitors the entire time. The copy lives here on a temporary address until you have looked at it and said yes — the DNS change is the last step, not the first.

    Order a plan, then open a ticket with your current host's login or a backup file. There is no separate migration product to buy and no charge to authorise.

    We build the copy

    Files, databases and mail come across onto your new account, reachable on a temporary address. Your live site carries on serving visitors from your old host throughout.

    You check it, then we switch

    Look at the copy properly. When you are happy, point the domain here and we keep an eye on it while the change spreads. If something is off, we fix it before the switch, not after.

  • cPanel (or equivalent) login for your current host
  • Or a full backup, if you would rather not share a login
  • The domain, and access to wherever its DNS is managed
  • A note of anything unusual — custom cron, a staging copy, an odd redirect
  • A time window, if the site must not change during business hours
  • Someone to look at the copy and confirm it before we switch

Moving house, answered

Is it really free, or is there a catch?

Genuinely free, on every plan including the cheapest. There is no migration fee, no per-site charge and no minimum term attached to it. The reason is simple commercial sense rather than generosity: the single biggest thing stopping people leaving a host they dislike is the fear of the move, so we removed it. What we do not do for free is rebuild a site, redesign it, or fix an application that was already broken before it arrived.

How long does it take?

Most sites are copied and ready to check within 24 hours of us getting access. Large stores, sites with many gigabytes of mail, or accounts with dozens of separate sites take longer, and we will tell you that at the start rather than at the end. The DNS switch itself is quick; how fast it reaches every visitor depends on the TTL your current DNS is set to, which is worth lowering a day before if you can.

Will my site go down?

It should not, and the process is designed around that. We build the copy on your new account while the old one keeps serving visitors, and nothing changes for anyone until you have seen the copy and asked us to switch. The one unavoidable window is DNS propagation, during which some visitors reach the old server and some the new — which is why we leave both running and why we ask you not to cancel your old hosting until a few days after the move.

What if my current host will not release my site?

You are entitled to your own data, and most hosts hand over a backup on request. If yours will not, a cPanel full backup you generate yourself is enough for us to work from, and failing that we can usually rebuild from an FTP copy plus a database export. Tell us what you can get and we will tell you honestly whether it is enough before you order anything.

Do you move sites that are not on cPanel?

Yes — Plesk, DirectAdmin, A2, managed WordPress platforms and plain FTP-plus-MySQL setups are all routine. What matters is that we can read the files and export the databases, not what panel they sat behind. WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, OpenCart and Laravel are the ones we see most often.

Can you move email as well as the website?

Yes, and we would rather you asked. Mailboxes, aliases and existing messages come across with the site. Moving a website and leaving the mail behind is the most common way a move goes wrong a week later, when somebody notices the contact form still delivers to a server nobody pays for any more.
