The questions we get asked most
At what point does WHMCS start to make sense?
Roughly when billing admin passes an hour or two a month, which is often around ten clients. Below that, invoicing by hand is fine. Above it, the licence pays for itself in renewals you would otherwise have forgotten to send. Reseller plans here include a licence.
Does WHMCS deal with support tickets as well?
Yes. The built-in ticket desk links clients, their services and the conversation together, so 'which account is this about' answers itself before anybody asks. Many resellers run the entire client relationship through it.
Can I test changes somewhere safe first?
Yes — plans with staging let you clone the live site, work on the copy, then push it across when you are satisfied. It is the difference between hoping an update behaves and knowing that it does before any customer meets it.
Can I set the PHP version myself?
Yes — PHP versions are chosen per site from the control panel, so an old application and a current one can sit side by side on the same account. Extensions and per-site settings live in the same screen, and none of it needs a support ticket.
Can one plan hold more than a single website?
From the Pro tier upward, yes — several sites, each with its own domain, mailboxes and certificate, all under one account. If those extra sites belong to clients rather than to you, reseller hosting is the better fit: it gives each one proper separation.
Can I bring a domain I already own?
Yes, and transfers in are routine. Unlock the name at your present registrar, collect the auth code, then start the transfer from your client area. Whatever registration time is left comes across with it, and DNS keeps answering the whole way through.
What happens to my files if I leave?
The site and the files stay yours. Pull a full backup from the panel whenever you like, before or during cancellation. Domains remain registered in your name for the term you paid for and can move to any registrar once the standard 60-day window has passed.
